The Central Idea: (How we Express Ourselves)

Depending on the form of communication, messages can have a different impact.

The lines of inquiry:

  1. What are the different forms of communication?
  2. What do we communicate?
  3. How do different types of communication affect us?
  4. Why do we need different ways to communicate?

We discussed in class which Transdiciplinary Theme Unspoken Tongues will be in and why:

How We Express Ourselves

Thalia & Alexander: We think that Unspoken tongues is here, because we express ourselves by drawing, painting and hand language and we are not talking when we're doing that.
Thalia R, Thomas & Maryam: We think it is in How we Express Ourselves, because unspoken tongues means not to use our tongues, so we do movements to express ourselves.
Lola, Shira & Megumi: because it expresses, unspoken tongues you might need to speak with your hands or you might draw or paint or write what you say. Expression is about feelings...
Gleb, Syahmi & Olivia : We think it belongs in How we Express Ourselves, because so far in PE we have chosen a place like a restaurant and we acted out with no words, and we think that expresses our feelings and ourselves.

How the World Works

Swarna, Jenny & Efe: We think unspoken tongues is going to be about how the world works, because we don't know how the world works.

We have also explored different forms of communication, for instance we visited the Centre Pompidou to look at Art and Jennifer came to visit us and performed for us and then helped us use Dance to communicate. You can visit the Centre Pompidou Visit page and the Dance Workshop page to see some photos of what happened.
